Firm Goals

We are a custom full-service residential design firm whose work focuses on renovations and additions. Homes are our sanctuaries. More than providing physical shelter from the elements, a home can also be a place of calm, a source of creativity and wellness that energizes other facets of our lives. Today, with our work lives and private lives often sharing the same space, it has never been more important to make thoughtful design choices about our homes. Designing healthy, efficient, and attractive spaces is central to our firm’s philosophy.

As our lifestyles change, a home may be improved to support evolving needs. Families that are downsizing, homes that welcome additional family members (whether older or newer), work-from-home professional spaces, decisions to age-in-place, these are some of the scenarios that might lead us to (re)evaluate how we want to live.

Our firm will help you plan for lifestyle changes, prioritize spatial requirements, and design an architecture project tailored to your needs and budget. We believe we can transform your home experience by concentrating on four key areas:  maximizing natural light, enhancing indoor air quality, selecting healthy and low-carbon materials, connecting the indoors to the outdoors.

We hire interdisciplinary consultants to support the project as appropriate and with your approval. Areas that may benefit from additional expertise include energy modeling to fully evaluate energy-efficient strategies, landscape design, and lighting design.

Carbon counting is a nascent practice that allows us to understand the carbon footprint of our buildings. When we count the carbon in our projects we can see the correlation between our project's characteristics and their global warming potential (GWP). As we move through the design process and determine which elements will be kept, discarded, or entirely redesigned, we will minimize the environmental impact of your project through informed material choices and building system selection. Reducing construction debris is an important strategy for carbon reduction. We are committed to working closely with contractors to divert as much building/project waste from the landfill as possible.
